Campaign for Disability Awareness

We want to shine a light on the Campaign For Disability Awareness (CFDA), based in Plymouth, it was founded by the wonderful Sharon Tiday.  As a mother bringing up three children who all have hidden disabilities and illnesses, she realised how many barriers they were up against in society, which made her feel she needed to do something about it.  She created CFDA to create awareness of disabilities as well as break down the stereotyping.

Now, CFDA raises awareness of disabilities through social media campaigns, events, media coverage and interactive awareness workshops with public and professionals throughout Plymouth, as well as working with health professionals of the future at the University of Plymouth Faculty of Health.

Sharon often runs games and activities with specialised glasses and headphones that show the effects of hearing impairment and sight loss, while a heavy jacket weighed down with weights in the lining, and a heavy neck brace aim to broadcast the impact ME and arthritis has on many people.
