City of Smiles wants to make some noise for a wonderful organisation we have worked with over many years, Plymouth Music Zone, an award-winning community music charity that believes passionately in the power of music to reach out and bring people together – music for everyone, whoever they are and whatever they’re going through.

We all have a story to tell, and PMZ are no different. It started as an idea in 1999, in a cupboard at a local school, musicians wanting to give music to primary school children…now 25 years on they have become a centre of excellence for cutting edge community music engaging over 1000 young people and adults with 50 activities a week!

However, recently, due to funding pressures they have been threatened by potential closure. Over the past few months, the team, communities and supporters have being working tirelessly to #SavePMZ. They have received an outpouring of support, but there is no respite for their fundraising efforts as their next deadline is March 2025 before funding runs out.
